Had repairman here on Friday after waiting a week for service. He replaced the mother board. He told me it should take 24 hours for the temp. to come down. 24 hours later the temp went from 70 deg to 71 deg. Called GE service I have to wait another week for service again. Ice maker making a small amount of ice. Temp in freezer 23 deg. Condenser fan is now running, was not before mother board replacement.

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It circulates the air in the freezer and The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's open.

Looked at back wall of bottom frezzer, all iced up. shut off unit and will wait until it defrost. Is there a possibility the evapoator fan in bad. Or could it have been frozen prior to the new mother board being installed. When it thaws I'll see what happens when I plug it in.

thanks for your help. It's covered by the extended warrenty, but a week to wait for service is a bit much. this will be the second time the repair man will be here.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost heater, defrost thermostat

You can defrost it with a hairdryer and just wait on the serviceman if it's covered by a warranty.

Unpluged ref last night. All iced up on back of freezer. Pluged unit in this morning. As of 400Pm all is well. I will have to keep a eye to see if the defrost is working.
