See above. About a week ago, the dryer stayed on for a very long time and would not shut off. When I opened the door, the clothes were extremely hot, and the dial on the timer was "stuck" in the same position. A few days later, my son opened the door to check on his clothes and found the left vent glowing red. He turned the dial off, and the glow went away. Today, I opened the door, turned the dial to a setting other than Off, and the vent began glowing again. I could also hear a humming noise before turning it off. I think I have timer issues, and due to the length of time the dryer was on a week ago, it affected the heating element and became damaged (grounded). Can someone confirm that this may be the issue? Hi, Sounds like the heating element is shorted to ground = new heating element time. LINK> Heating Element Assembly. jeff sr. |

Based on the element glowing when the timer is set to anything but the off position, the heating element is certainly grounded out. This can be verified by unplugging the power cord, accessing the element and disconnecting the two wires, and testing from the element terminals to the frame for continuity. If there is continuity, the element would need to be replaced. https://www.appliancepar...ng-279838-ap3094254.html
