I have a Bosch dishwasher. The dishes come out with a odd smell (not pleasant) and there is about a cup of dirty water left in the hole when I remove the large object filter.

Is the left over water normal? Should it be dirty water? I've run the washer through numerous cleaning cycles. But the smell returns within one or two washes.

Thank you for your question. While it is normal for there to be some water in this area, it should not be excessively dirty. The water left over should only be rinse water. If it is excessively dirty, the check valve (if applicable) may be failing. If the model number of your appliance could be provided, it will allow the most accurate information to be presented.
