Hi All,
My GE side by side through door paddle switch seems to work fine for all functions, then after several days of the fridge being empty, the switch stops working - it would not work for any function.
Icemaker and water dispenser work fine when the switch is working - so, it is not the inlet valve. Makes a lot of ice fast.
I initially suspected it was the reservoir freezing - I previously replaced and insulated the reservoir in the refrigerator side. But, am beginning to think the water line to the door is freezing - but, I don't know why this would cause the switch to not work at all - or, not work for the ice dispenser function - UNLESS it all works through the water line to the door (from underneath) and if it freezes even the switch doesn't work?
I reset the freezer to 2°F and the refrigerator to 40°F - no change. The switch works fine when turned back on after having been off for a couple of hours, but then stops working again after a day.
Only other thing of interest - the ice chute gets frost whiskers after a day or two. Note - the solenoid controlled door works perfectly - after energizing the switch the door snaps shut about 2 seconds later - completely shut (can't see light from LED flashlight in the dispenser when it is dark outside the fridge.
Refrigerator is empty.
Thanks for your comments!

Based on the information provided, the failure is going to be in the main control WR55X10942C since the door chute operates properly even when ice does not dispense.
