Hi,
I have Kitchen Aid French door refrigerator KRFF302ESS03, which is about 3 years old.
This morning I opened up the freezer and found lots of frost buildup around the ice dispenser area and by the back of the freezer. The door switch for the light was stuck with frost. The temp of the freezer was fine, which was at -18C (0 deg F). I checked the gasket around the freezer drawer and it looks fine. The ice cubes in the tray were not melted or did not look deformed in that they had melted and then froze again. and the individually wrapped ice-cream bars were not melted.
Actually, about two weeks ago, I did find the refrigerator about 1 or 2 deg warmer than usual and then it dropped down back to it's default setting.
Is there any reason to be concerned? Is the defrost timer faulty perhaps?
Regards, Gus

The frost buildup around the ice dispenser and the stuck door switch with frost indicate a possible issue with the defrost system or door seal. While your freezer temperature seems fine, it's essential to address the frost buildup, which can affect long-term performance. The defrost timer or related components might indeed be faulty, causing intermittent defrosting. I recommend monitoring the situation and contacting a technician if the issue persists. Regularly check the door seal for any wear or gaps to ensure a proper seal, as this can also contribute to frost buildup in the true freezer.
