Hi
Have a whirlpool washer, WTW7500, direct drive motor. It started making a loud grinding noise during the agitate cycle, but only with a load in the machine. Fills, spins, and drains fine. Took the wash plate off, found a worn penny, but nothing else. Teeth on the spline looked ok, no significant wear. Put the machine on its back and took the rotor off, the teeth on the rotor were pretty worn and I could see the damage, which accounted for the noise. Replaced the rotor, got through 1 load, and halfway through the next, the noise materialized again. I'm sure the rotor teeth are damaged now.

Any thoughts on what is causing the teeth to stop engaging fully?
