On last load, Maytag DE412 stopped heating at some point during cycle and then just kept running. It was only turned off after we noticed it had been tumbling all day. Not sure if this is one problem or two problems, with the second one (doesn't stop tumbling) perhaps being triggered by the first (stopped heating). I am more than willing to attempt a repair but need help diagnosing the faulty part(s). Sorry for not having more descriptive language in the subject line, but every time I tried to post something more descriptive, the system refused to post this query. Based on your description and my experience on this model of dryer the problem is the timer. Likely one set of contacts inside the timer are stuck together that control the motor and another set of contacts for the heat are stuck open. These old design dryers are fairly simple and the timer just is worn out.
