Behind the panel in my freezer is all frosted up and fridge side not cooling properly. I have tried turning my timer on manually, but it didn't change anything. Should the defrost heater feel warm when you touch it? I tried to bypass the thermostat by connecting the wires together but nothing seemed to happen then either. Does that mean my heater is bad? Or could it be something else? Your help is greatly appreciated.

You have to have a simple Ohmmeter to check the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. When you turn the defrost timer (#257 on the diagram) shaft it should click and the compressor should stop. That means you switched to defrost cycle. Gene.
