i have a whirlpool washer model lsc8244bq0 that is messing up bad. recently the agitator started working on almost every cycle. i have check the motor coupling and they look great, when i start the washer everything works perfect it fill it agitates and spin drains the water then repeats process but once its done with wash cycle and move into the cool down phase the agitator will not disengage and wants to agitate on every time the washer drains and spins the clothes causing the clothes to get tightly wrapped around agitator bringing machine to stop. from my understanding and from what ive read it could be the transmission, clutch, starter capacitor or im not sure. the thing that's stumping me is the first 2 fill and drain for wash cycle work great. no problems but after that it goes down hill fast. last time i ran the machine the spin cycle worked great but the next load of clothes the agitator started working when it wasn't suppose to work. here are some short videos on youtube of the problems and how sometimes the spin works and doesn't work due to agitator. also video of agitator working perfectly fine.

have you tried other wash cycle?

look at the back of the timer and see any burn or abnormal

Just a guess but the timer may have some contact points sticking together (if it is an older design timer ) and there is not much chance of repair. A new timer is likely to be needed.

is their a part that i would replace or is it better to replace the whole transmission? replacing transmission don't look like much work but kinda nervous about taking transmission apart to replace something inside of it due to all the seals that would have to be replaced
