I got a Frigidaire model LGHB2867PF for free because it was not cooling correctly. The freezer works fine but the fridge is would not get below 45 no matter what the temp was set at. The temp on the screen will read that it is 35 degrees but the actual temp when measured with two separate thermometers was about 45 degrees. I checked the thermistor and according to the chart I found online, t was off by about 5 degrees so I purchased a new one and it was better but still not right. I set the temp at 35 and the screen would read 35 but the actual temp would fluctuate between 37 and 42 degrees throughout the day. I figured that was good enough and have been using it for about a week now. Yesterday I noticed in the morning that the temp on the screen said 35 but the actual temp was nearly 50. I unplugged the unit and let it sit for about 30 mins, checked the thermistor, plugged it back in and it cooled back down but will only get as low as 44. The door says it is 35. The freezer always stays at a steady 0. When I got the unit, I cleaned the coils and fan that are in behind the cardboard on the back and made sure everything looked to be in working order. The compressor turns on and runs, fan runs, so I did not see anything obviously wrong. It seems like the control board is not reading the temp right and telling the compressor to kick on. I assume that if it is thinking the fridge is at the set temp, it will not think it need to run the compressor and that is why it was 50 degrees actually. I don't mind spending some $ on this since it is a really nice unit but I don't want to waste $ throwing parts at it with my fingers crossed. I am NOT a repairman by any means but I am very mechanical and repair my appliances myself. I know enough about refrigerators to be dangerous so I really wouldn't know where to look. I wouldn't tackle a compressor but a circuit board would not be a problem. I have seen where there are issues with the defrost cycle that can cause the fridge run warmer but I would think that the screen would read the correct temp to reflect that. Thoughts?
