Dear Anyone Who Can Help Me..

I "inherited" a Maytag washer and dryer recently when I moved apartments. I used the dryer about 3 times without incident when it suddenly started to stop during the cool down cycle. After about 5-10 minutes, it would start up again, but only for a few seconds, then stop for minutes at a time, then start up again. It would continue to do this till the dry cycle completely finished.

I've never had my own washer and dryer and am completely clueless about how to fix it. Would anyone have any idea of what it could be and whether I can fix it on my own? I was trying to find an appliance repairer, but if it's something I can fix on my own, I'd rather save myself some money.
