MAYTAG GAS DRYER TAKES TOO LONG TO DRY, OR DOESN'T DRY AT ALL. I CHANGED BOTH SOLENOIDS AS A SET AND CHECKED THE AIRFLOW, WHICH COMES OUT FORCEFULLY FROM THE OUTSIDE VENT. THE IGNITER GLOWS YELLOW ORANGE VERY WELL. HOWEVER, IT WILL NOT FLAME UP, OR DOES SO NOW AND THEN AND THE TIMER DOESN'T ADVANCE. NOW HERE IS THE TRICKY PART: WHEN I BANG ON THE SIDE OF THE CABINET - DOWN LOW ON THE RIGHT TOWARD THE FRONT - THE FLAME COMES ON AND IT APPEARS TO RUN AS NORMAL. ALSO THE TIMER WILL START TO ADVANCE AGAIN. IF I AM DILIGENT AND KEEP AN EYE ON THE IGNITER AND BANG IT AGAIN, THE FLAME COMES BACK ON, AND IF I CAN KEEP THIS UP THE CLOTHES WILL DRY. THE FLAME GOES BACK OFF AT AROUND 3 MINUTES. SO THIS TELLS ME THAT ALL THE COMPONENTS ARE FUNCTIONING. SO WHAT IS IT THAT IS LOOSE THAT RESPONDS WHEN I BANG? WHAT WOULD BE THE 'CULPRIT" THAT NEEDS; TIGHTENING, FASTENING,OR REPLACED? PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY DILEMMA. I CAN'T JUST BUY PARTS OR KEEP CAMPING OUT IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM.
THANK YOU, DON
