I was going to bed when a loud buzzing could be heard in my gas log fireplace. After pulling the face off, it turned out that (what I think is) the transformer was starting on fire. I cut the power and removed the transformer, which was well singed. There was a liquid coming from it as well, but there was no other liquid found in the fireplace.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this could have happened? I searched the web and found no pages on this topic. It is lucky that we were awake when it happened. It was installed in 2008, but the brand slips my memory.
Thank you for helping!
Greg
