A while back my renters had a leak in the freezer from the ice maker - They ended up doing a few things but basically removed the ice tray and disabled ice - trying to debug it later it didn't seem like water flowed even with the controller plugged back in - so I replaced the controller - this seemed to act the same or perhaps was better about trying to make ice but ice wasn't happening - not water - or little - so I decided to replace the valve - just finished that job this weekend and now it is making hollow ice.

It seems like this is attributed to poor water flow. The pressure at the door water seems fine and the valve is new - so there seems to be some advice to check for frozen water tube to ice maker (this might have been the problem since the start in retrospect and both parts I replaced might have been fine :( )

So my question is how does one check for freezing in the tube and how does one clean it out and how do we help ensure it doesn't happen again..
