Water fills then it does nothing. After unplugging and letting sit for a couple of days out of frustration , it miraculously worked again :) but only for two loads then stopped working again. :( Does "on and off working" indicate a more specific issue?

I have no clue what to do  and after opening the control panel I found that the transformer on the circuit board gets really warm  - is that normal?

Check the lid switch.

It does not even click when opening or closing... tried the reset method of unplugging... waiting and then opening/closing 6 times within 12 seconds... didn't work. I cannot tell what or where my lid switch is even after looking at the schematics layout I found inside the panel.

The reset method is not for this type of washer. The lid switch on your schematic is at upper right under the control board. The switch is of the magnetic type and doesn't make any noise when activated. To test, you have to unplug the 11 pin connector from the control board and check continuity between the orange and yellow/red wires.
