I purchased a used GE Profile wall oven (model JT915SOK1SS). The seller said that it worked but for the life of me I can not get it to turn on. I know that this oven checks continuity of the element but I have checked all three elements and it seems fine. The convection element on the back wall did seem like it could be failing based on a weak tone of my voltmeter but I was still getting a reading. Regardless I purchased a second used rear element (P/N WB44T10053) plugged it in and got nothing.
However, I did make a mistake and it turned on by accident but only when I forgot to screw in the middle element and the blue lead, what I assume is the hot lead for the middle element touched the back wall. However, with it onin that way it would only start to run and then cycle itself as if it’s tripping a “fuse” and it never actually heats up. If I merely remove the terminals for the middle element in the back and short-circuit them thus bypassing the element nothing happens so I had assumed that the oven was expecting a voltage or resistance to be within ng a certain spec.
Everything looks to be in good shape and I checked continuity on a number of lengths of wire to look for breaks but havent found them yet. I also havent gotten a visual of the bottom element because it is covered and I need to remove the door to access it.
I feel like it’s a simple fix but I’m a bit out of my league on this a d would appreciate any help on what to check next.
