Can someone help me trouble shoot and how to fix my ~15 year old KitchenAid Fridge KBLA20EMSS? For at least a few months, it was making the click-buzz-click sound. But no issues cooling or freezing. The buzz would last 9-10 seconds. At night it seemed to do it more often, every 2 min 50 sec. During the day it was not as obvious that it would do it as frequently. Of course, I procrastinated in getting it repaired and today it was making the click-buzz-click sound all day long. Checked and the freezer items are melted. I turned off breaker for 15 min and restarted. It's not making the sound anymore (been about 1 hr) and is cooling (empty freezer at 12 deg and dropping). Several weeks ago, I took the fridge out from its area and vacuumed underneath from the back. It didn't seem that dirty for not vacuuming for 15 yrs. The fan was operational and the click-buzz-click seemed to be coming from the components on the compressor.

What parts should I be looking to replace to make this fridge operational again? Or how do I test for this? New fridges have a 2-3 month lead time...yikes

UPDATE 03/12/21 7am
The fridge/freezer is cooling properly since the 15 min shutdown explained above, but the click buzz click sound is back. Happening every 2 min 50 sec.

Dos this sound like a start relay issue, as explained in other posts?
Do I need to change the capacitor as well?

Thanks in advance

Dennis

Do you have an ice maker that's not connected to water. It might be cycling over and over. Or you might need a new start relay for the compressor. I'm betting on the IM.
