I have a Samsung NX58H5600 gas range. My fuel is propane. I need some answers regarding the jets on this appliance and the performance I am getting.

First, while reviewing the paperwork that came with this range, I noticed that the BTU rate for propane is lower than for natural gas (after conversion to the appropriate jet). For example, on the right front burner, with propane, the specification is 12,500 BTU with a 1.06mm jet. With natural gas, the specification is 17,000 BTU with a 1.92mm jet. Wouldn’t it make more sense to specify jets that gave the same BTU value for each fuel? Why is the propane BTU output reduced relative to natural gas?

My second question has to do with broiler performance. The broiler of this range is near useless. You have to put your food almost touching the flame to get any broil at all. Again, looking at the jets, for propane the output is 11,500BTU with a 1.02mm jet. With natural gas, the output is 13,500 with a 1.64mm jet. Given that the broiler is not hot enough to do its job, would it be advisable/safe to increase the jet orifice size to increase the propane BTU output? I have the full set of natural gas jets, so I have options from 1.01mm to 1.92 to select from. The natural gas broiler jet is 1.64mm. Jets with an orifice of 1.38 and 1.40 are available in the set. Should I try them?
