My 15 year Kenmore refrigerator is constantly running in the cooling cycle. Refrigerator temperature reads around 10 degrees regardless of what the new thermostat is set. Freezer temperature is also very cold. I have replaced the thermostat and defrost timer, cleaned the coils.

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

It's a Kenmore 21 cu. ft with freezer on top. The model # 363.9611586 and the serial # l21958042
|

I afraid that is it, took the numbers off the inside of the refrigerator. Maybe the box is 20 years old?

John,
The cooling (evaporator) coil is located in the freezer. The cold air from the freezer comes into the fresh food compartment through a window in the upper left corner of the refrigerator. I'm not sure how exactly your model designed because the diagrams are not accessible online, but if this is really old unit then the left side dial on the control panel should operate with the damper control and regulate this air flow. Try to completely close it and see how it will go.

You are correct, I have a dial on the left side (Freezer Control A-E) which regulates the cold air from the freezer. I'll close it tonight and see what happens. Could it be the defrost thermostat?

I do not think there is something wrong with the defrost in your refrigerator. If it's not defrosting properly then it should warmer and not colder.
