Old GE SxS . Ran perfect all winter after a new thermostat and defrost timer installed, 34-35˚in the fridge, -5-0˚ freezer.

Gradually as the weather warmed up and got more humid it seems that evry 4 hours or so both compartments are in the 50˚'s and then start to cool again but never get to where they were earlier in the year. Most often I'll turn the defrost timer knob to get it running again. Then the temps drop back down withing 15 minutes.

Coils in freezer are not iced up, evaporator coils are clean, fan is running. Door gaskets are good.

I thought the defrost timer was only supposed to go on every 12 hours or so. Why would it run more often? I've heard of timers slowing down or sticking but never speeding up.

thanks,

Rob
