I have an 8.5 year old Maytag MDB8959AWS5 that worked fine yesterday. When I tried to use it this morning, it lets me select the wash cycle type with the buttons on the keypad and I hit start and close the door. The lights stay on and don't blink or anything, but it just makes a clicking sound and the cycle never starts. I tried turning off the breaker for a few minutes and that did not fix it.

If it was the door latch assembly, would it do this or would the start button (or some other) light blink indicating the door is not closed?

From what I have read this could also be the control board...

How do you get this model to run through the diagnostic tests that could hopefully pinpoint the problem?
