I have a 12 year old Frigidaire side by side (glhs35ehsb). We started to see an occasional rise in freezer temperatures. When this happens you hear a click followed by a hum followed by another click and the humming stops. This happens every few minutes. If it goes on for awhile we will see the freezer temp rise. It will show as high as 31, but it definitely is not that warm in the freezer.

So far it will eventually start cooling and the clicking stops. If the temperature showed a rise it quickly goes back to 0, even when it went as high as 31.

I replaced the compressor run capacitor and it was fine for a few days but the clicking is back.

What I have noticed (I did this a couple times before replacing the run capacitor) is that if I unplug it when this happening after a couple minutes I hear a click. From the capacitor? Plug back in and it works fine.

Does this indicate a bad compressor?

Or could it be the starter that needs to be replaced? The run capacitor plugs into the starter. I only replaced the run capacitor so far.

Thanks.
