Extend dishwasher drain hose for Whirlpool dishwasher

Hello! I discovered in my recently purchased home that the previous owners did not install a bend or loop in the drain hose from my Whirlpool DU930PWPS2 dishwasher. In fact, the line is extremely taught and is firmly connected to the garbage disposal system. Every couple of days we have standing water at the bottom of the dishwasher (we don't use it often) that rots and stinks (and attracts a plethora of roaches that reside in said washer). I am assuming this is due to back-flow from the sink/disposal.
It appears online that most drain hoses are 6', but I would need something between 8'-12'. Other repair sites suggest extension hoses, but since my current hose has a permanent hard rubber fixture (one is a 90 degree bend), and the extensions do not, I wasn't sure if there was a way to cut and marry two pieces, or find a way to connect the 12' extension without the hard rubber fixture.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time!
