GE top loader WPER6100G2 about 9 years old.

Washer has following symptoms:
1. Very load roaring sound during spin cycle. Dryer is just very loud and does not vibrate excessively to move on floor.
2. Coincident with this issue, washer often/randomly activates agitator during fill cycle (i.e. on dry/partially wet clothes before set water level is attained).
3. With empty washer, low level roaring sound occurs when manually turning the drum in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This is new and started with the spin cycle noise issue.

I replaced the Tub Bearing and problem persists. Tub Bearing replacement seemed to reduce the “grating/metallic” sound in the roar but load roar persists. Wondering if Mode Shifter is the culprit. Only other idea is a Supension Rod and Spring but all seemed tight and functional during recent Tub Bearing Repair work.

All input and ideas welcome.
