I have had problems with the infinity switch for the Whirlpool 8 inch element for a while ( not shutting off) and now the switch does not work. I want to replace the switch but there is no model number on the underside of the Whirlpool stovetop and no part # on the switch. there are numbers on the switch but they dont correspond to part numbers online. Stove top is over 30 years old. If i remove the switch, do you have any suggestions on how to find a new switch that will work. thanks

Is there another 8" burner on the range? It might have the correct number on it.
If possible post a pic. of the switch and any markings on it.

was able to find part # for switch. thanks. Does it make sense that a switch could still have continuity ( which is happening) but the switch does not work because the shaft is too loose ( very easy to turn compared to other switiches that work). Also, the switch was not turning off properly before it stopped working which i thought was a good sign that the switch is broken. THank you
