Hi, I suspect my dishwasher circulating pump is faulty. But I want to make sure I understand what is going on. It is a Whirlpool WDF760SADM0.

I ran the diagnostic twice. The first time I only received cold water errors at the beginning, which is expected. The second time, the machine failed to empty and I received error codes for that. The circulator worked both times. We have not had draining issues (but it is for an apartment so maybe the tenants just didn’t' tell me). I should also point out that the circulator works intermittently during normal cycles, so I'm not entirely surprised it worked while running the diagnostic. I am a bit baffled why it suddenly failed to drain.

I measured voltage from the line to neutral going to the pump at ~0 volts, line to chassis at 120v and neutral to chassis at 120v.

Ohms across circulating pump terminals (with wires removed from control board) was 22MOhms. Most of what I could find on the Internet indicated that the ohms for any motor in a dishwasher should be 200-400 Ohms. The Tech Sheet behind the kick panel does not indicate ohms for the circulating pump, but discloses Ohms for all other motors in the appliance.

So I have 4 questions:

  • Is there any reason why the dishwasher should fail to drain during the second diagnostic, but work during normal operation?
  • Why would neutral to chassis measure at 120v, and not ~0 volts?
  • Is 22MOhms out of range for this circulating pump?
  • Is the circulating pump the only issue, or could I have something else going on with the control board, thus explaining 1) and 2) above?

Thank you for your help
