Hello. I ordered the outer replacement glass (316402603) for this oven. The original glass that shattered had about a 2" strip of double-sided tape on the left and right side between the glass and the frame.

The replacement glass does not have this tape.

Youtube shows some people using this tape and some not mentioning it.

Is it necessary to use this tape and what is it's purpose, as it does not seem to be sealing anything nor necessarily made to support the glass?

If it should be used, can I just use a general 3M type double-sided tape or does it have to be some kind of high temp tape?
