LG wm2455hw clothes washer, 9 years old, first problem ever with unit! Low and high speed spin either doesn't spin at all with a sound like a faucet is on (not though), or labored grinding sound, for both low and high speed spin (using test mode). If I tip washer back about 6-12 inches, low and high speed spin works fine. Replaced three lower shocks already, and position sensor/hall sensor, neither had an effect. All other functions work fine (lock door, fill hot cold warm, drain etc). Eventually gives an LE error, which is load error (it's empty). which would be consistent with the drum having a hard time turning, either because of something jammed in there (although spins fine when off), or motor trying to turn and can't for whatever reason. Rotor assembly and bearings look and behave fine. Did reset, no change. Wires all seem to be in good shape, no leaks, inside clean. replaced stator motor assembly (the one with copper wires), no change.
Ordered rotor assembly (silver thing with magnets). When spin starts, the motor doesn't turn. I can give the silver stator a push and it runs slowly. Seems like that is the capacitor is dead? Replace control board? Checking voltages coming from control panel....
Update: Replaced Stator motor (copper and silver dish thing), bearings, checked spider which was solid but dirty. Old bearings seemed fine, but replaced anyway. Re-assembled, same problem. Motor either stalls at startup or runs really slow. At this point, I'm in $200 and suspect the control board and capacitor (if cap is dead, won't start drum to get up to speed?). New control board is a few hundred more, so throwing in the towel and getting a new washer. Trying Maytag this time. Wish me luck...hope the above helps someone else avoid the suffering I enjoyed trying to fix this LG washer!
