Recently my washer quit working and I tracked it back to the motor. Original part number on motor is 8528158 which has 5 wires at the motor switch. I ordered part number 661600 and the actual motor part number is 3951550 which has 6 wires at the motor switch. The difference between the two being a purple wire in the number two slot on the connector. The washer works now, I'm just wanting to be sure everything will function the same and not cause any issues.

It should be OK. The motor crosses to the one you installed. Just make sure both speeds are working and it should be fine.

Its probably an extra winding for another speed. Something your washer doesn't have.
