The machine is a Bravos x. It is leaking water right below the drum. After some time, it started also not straining the clothes well, they come out too wet. Then it started stopping after the wash, and squeeling a bit. It drains the water fine, so the pump is ok. It is the rust color, and the leak, and the getting stuck in sensing, that is the problem. If the seal is broken, could it do all these things? Or, what it the diagnosis? I plan on buying this: Whirlpool W10324647 Tub Seal - AppliancePartsPros.comAnd hoping you can tell me if there's anything else i may need to buy at once. Or, is it the wrong part. thank you for a very helpful site with DIY videos!

To answer your question it might be that seal. If you are going to undertake this repair, why not disassemble to see where the leak actually is then purchase the part. If the leak is from the tub seal you will see signs of a water trail on top of the transmission running down the sides. If it is leaking thru the transmission you will see signs of water and rust near the shaft underneath the pulley and splutch.

I will buy the wrench and take a look first surely.
There is already a rust color on the basket below and brown stains on the floor.
Could the seal cause that?
The machine still looks fairly new, no visible rust anywhere.

The tub seal can cause that or a crack in the bottom of the tub, or it can be a seal leaking into the gearcase.

No its part of the gearcase. A seal between the agitator drive shaft and the tub spin drive shaft.

I will pull the tub out tonight or tomorrow.
How can I tell which seal it is?

When I follow the video instructions on repair [linic (it won't let me post it) , i reach the place about the tub nut, that is different on my machine..  Any advice on how to proceed? and will the rest of the video be compatible with my model? p.s. I could've sworn there was a video on your site where the Seal is listed for sale, but its not there now. If you have a video for my model I'd appreciate it. I haven't bought the seal, just waiting to see what is needed. But don't know how to proceed as mentioned above. Thanks!

Thank you. Really appreciated.
The other video would have had me remove the belt, the bolt below, string...
In this one I'd have to only remove the wire harness, and the gear case entirely.
Only I am stuck at the bolts holding the gearcase... It doesn't specify which sockets to use, but 7/16 is slightly too large (on all of them, its not wear), and 3/8 is too small!!
Which socket to use? :confused:
