Maytag washer. Not sure if it's the wash cycle control on the control panel, or something else. Replaced the water inlet at the first of the year because washer wouldn't stop filling (intermittently), and would overflow even when the power was off. It's been fine since then. But now, it more & more frequently doesn't fill all the way, and the water just keeps coming into the washer. As a result, it seems to "think" it's not filled up to what the fill line has been set for, so it just keeps filling with water. Obviously, it must also be draining water, because it's not overflowing--it just keeps filling without ever getting to the set fill line. I've tried just moving the cycle knob a bit to nudge it to complete filling, but all it does is then move it to the spin cycle. Haven't been able to find any other person's symptom that seems to be just like this one. Thanks for any diagnosing you can give!!!!

Sounds like it's siphoning out the drain hose. If it's filling but not overflowing that's really the only place for the water to go. Check if you have more than 12" of drain hose in the wall, if the end of the hose is submerged in the trap it can allow the water to siphon out.
