Hi! I have a Kenmore 70 series washing machine, model number 110.82870100. I have scoured Google trying to find a solution to why my washer wont spin and so far I have failed.

My washer started only not spinning occasionally and would have to turn it back to rinse and it would fill with water and then spin out the water. Sometimes I would have to do that 2 or 3 times. It then would start spinning during the initial drain and it would do the click and pause and stop spinning although I still hear the motor running. It stopped spinning completely for awhile and then started only spinning occasionally and now won't spin at all again. When it switches to spin the agitator will jerk but then not spin even though I hear the motor running. It agitates and drains just fine.

*I just did a load of laundry and it just spun out the water the first rinse cycle even after the click and pause. So confusing!

I checked the agitator and drive block and both appear whole. I thought it may be the clutch so replaced that and it didn't solve the problem. While its supposed to be spinning and I can turn the tub by hand but that doesn't start it spinning. I looked under the washer when it's supposed to be spinning and don't see anything spinning at all but can hear the motor running.

Hopefully, this wasn't too jumbled. This is my first time trying to fix something myself so tried to remeber everything I've tried. Thank you so much for any help and advice!

There are pins that may break in the transmission also a plastic gear
Replace or repair the transmission should solve your problem.

I received some advice from a different forum and ended up replacing the spin gear inside the transmission. Spins perfectly now.
