So this one has me stumped. Our Kenmore refrigerator has the bottom shelf that is the sheet of glass, and the plastic frame for it is also the glides for the crisper drawers.

Today the shelf dropped. While putting it back in, I notice that there is a HUGE amount of play there, and that only 1/8th of an inch catches the shelf support molded into the fridge wall.

Is this normal?

The foam insulation and plastic liner can shift or shrink over time. Some units have had issues in first few years. So normal, no. Not as in it's expected but not abnormal as in no way, never happens. You may have to sort out some sort of spacer or extension to stop it.
