My fridge has been acting funny for a month.. Randomly stops cooling.. I originally thought it was the evaporator fan or motor because the fan wasn't running when the temperature would rise & would restart after being unplugged/replugged & the fridge would start to cool again.
I cleaned the fan & there isn't a blockage - for some reason it just needed that mental restart?
Now the issue seems to be changing.. last night the condenser, which has always been warm & running in the past, was cool to the touch & the evaporator fan was blowing cool air. I had to unplug/replug it several times before the condenser started running..
Today I unplugged the fridge & removed the start relay(?) on the side of the condenser & tested it with a multimeter.. the readings (ohms / resistance) were bouncing all over the place.. also one of the female receivers on the start relay thing was charred and the corresponding prong on the compressor had burnt, dried plastic residue on it..

Any thoughts appreciated!

Both the fridge & freezer get warm - it is not isolated to one or the other.. And this is a bottom freezer refrigerator.
