Hi.

I have a Magic chef mcbr445b1 refrigerator.

The other day I opened the door and the beverages were warm and there was no cold air. I unplugged the unit ad waited 20 minutes, plugged it back in, and set the dial to 7. I waited 15 minutes and the fridge did not cool down.

I checked the back and the compressor (# NSA30LACG) is warm See attached.

I am not that savvy when it comes to electrical items. I am guessing the compressor is ok?
I am not sure what the next step is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

Looks like this a small 4.4 cu. ft. compact refrigerator. It's not expensive (less than $200) and I believe it's not worth any repair.

It cost about $180.

What could be the issue?

Wouldn't the parts be lest costly than a new one if I can figure out the issue and do it myself?

Check the compressor on touch. If it's working, it should vibrate.

Sounds like there is something wrong with the compressor. If it's right then it's very expensive.

Gene, it is not your decision to make based upon your financial status. Obviously you don't understand that $200 can be quite expensive to some walks of life, and that is sad. :(

This person came for advice on how to repair, not advice on how their money should be spent. If they own it, and are reaching out for tips on how to repair it, it ~IS~ worth repair. :D

Also, if you don't think $200 is that much, can you send me $200 by Western Union? Email me back for the pertinent info. ;)

It is always in my best interest to help people save money. In this case, it would cost significantly more to repair the refrigerator than to replace it. Just the cost of the compressor, not including installation, would be at least $200, which is more than the cost of buying a new refrigerator. As always the decision made by the owner.

Wow! you have a lot to say about a FOUR YEAR OLD thread. This was settled 4 years ago and you just decided to come here and pick on the advice of a volunteer who has many, many years of real world experience repairing appliances.

Way to pick you battles. Gene 1, you 0
