Good morning,

My Maytag washer was working fine then one day I smelled a strong burning odor. Then it was a little noisy during the wash cylcle but didn't smell anymore. Now it doesn't agitate during the wash cycle but does agitate and spin during the rinse cycle. During the wash cycle it sounds like it is working fine but when I lift the lid (and hold down the switch) I noticed that it is not agitating at all. It starts to agitate when it first switches to the wash cycle then stops.
It goes through all other cycles fine except it doesnt spin the clothes well enough. They are wetter than normal.

I've read it could be a timer or agitator coupling. Any further info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
