I have watched a ton of videos and read lots of blog posts and still have not been able to solve a cooling problem with my GE Profile. I have used three different repair guys and had no luck so far. It is a very long story. The beginning was ice melting in the freezer so we just quit using ice. Eventually over time the temperature in both sections would run 10- 15 degrees higher than 0 and 37. The two thermistors that are easily accessible are both registering correct ohms. I have the evaporator cover off the fresh food side and the fan is running. I replaced the main board because the last repair guy told me that was my problem. Still no good. The freezer got to about 8 degrees and fridge got to about 48 after 24 hours. The only thing I can come up with now is maybe the thermistor(s) at the condensor coils are bad. Please help!

Edited to add: the picture shows some type of valve that has been freezing up as well. Not frozen in the pic because I unplugged refrigerator for a while.

Did you buy this new or used?

That valve in the picture is a service valve for checking or adding freon.

I have to wonder if your fridge is low on freon and if that's why its not cooling. Did one of your service guys add the valve?

I don't suppose you have any pictures of the evaporator coils when the fridge is running?

After it has run for 30 to 60 minutes the frost pattern can tell you a lot about how much freon is in the system.

We bought it at a best buy outlet if I remember correctly. I dont remember any service guy adding it. I took a lot of the fridge apart to test everything so it was completely thawed. I have plugged it back in and let it run so I can get pictures of the coils in a little bit. One repair guy said it was getting stuck in defrost mode and said to replace the board. It didnt help. Right now the freezer is at -2 and the fridge is at 36 which is better than it has been in 2 months.

Tested all 4 thermistors and all came back fine. However, when testing them at the board two of them show a reading for a split second and then back to 1 . Video showing this is linked. Could this be some type of issue? All fans are running and reading proper voltage as well.

Edited to add: Also checked defrost heater which tested ok. When checking the thermostat, I could not get a reading other than .03

This pic of coils taken at about 7 am and fridge has been running since about 3 pm yesterday.

I'm not sure on the thermistor readings, but the temperatures are just fine.

The coils have a nice even coating of frost, so it looks like you have enough freon.

I'd say put the back in and check the coils in a week. The frost pattern shouldn't be any heavier than it is now.

What would cause it to go from Nothing working properly to ok all of a sudden?
