We just had a repair service replace a compressor and drier filter in our 5.6 year old kenmore/Lg bottom freezer and it still isn't cooling! He came back and found a leak and repaired that, Evac and recharged and still not working! He thinks he might need to put another drier filter on? Sears won't touch it because of possible contamination?! He is coming back to replace the drier filter? What if that doesn't work?

What was your original problem?
It doesn't sound too good. Is he testing for leaks then pulling a deep vacuum on the system? Then he should add the new freon and check for leaks again.
Its easy to make mistakes and I've had a few bad days myself. Lets hope the third time is the charm.

I really think he might of messed up the pressure tubing but not sure...I have read that you can test for a clogged drier filter by testing temp on both sides and haven't seen him do that yet wants to replace it? He has also mentioned it having a contaminated system, but wouldn't that be from him not doing a proper evac? Isn't there a way to check for an obstruction? His LG buddy said he has had to change 2 or 3 drier filters before it works? Originally the fridge compressor was making a noise for several weeks and stopped cooling the evening after he came and looked at it..this is why he replaced the compressor...he is checking for leaks and evac and reload...found a leak the next day...evac and reload...still not working!

a sealed system can become contaminated in several different ways.
One was is to have a leak on the low side (of the pressure system) where the compressor pulls in air and moisture.
Another way is if the compressor "burns out" which can fill the sealed system with burnt up oil and other crap, pretty much ruining it. It can be cleaned up, but it takes a whole bunch of time and all the lines and coils need to be flushed out. My opinion: burnt up comp = buy a new refrig.
Also a compressor can go bad and pump oil into the lines thereby clogging them up. Same thing as before, you've got to get all that oil out.
Changing the filter dryer can help, but they weren't really meant to clean up that kind of stuff.

Well, shouldn't he be seeing signs of this when doing the vacuum down?
