Quite recently my Whirlpool Duet front-loading dryer started screaching quite suddenly. After surfing the internet I found this website with extremely helpful support and was directed toward the "dryer repair kit" (new belt, rollers, etc.) which made perfect sense. I previously had paid an insane amount to a local technician to have the belt replaced. I purchased the repair kit and it arrived the next day...I was thrilled! I am a single mother of 4 and a dryer is something I simply can't live without for very long. I watched your repair video as I was replacing all the necessary components and did actually discover that two of the drum rollers had been rubbing and were extremely worn. One had actually left black shredded material all over the inside of the dryer so I believe that was definitely the problem. I followed the instructions meticulously and upon reassembling my dryer and plugging it in, I discovered the light inside would not shut off. I tried checking the connections, etc. but I can not get it to work properly now and as a result my dryer still won't turn on:( HELP! I am on an extremely restricted budget and haven't even started Christmas shopping for my kids yet....a huge repair bill will cripple me which is why I attempted to do this myself. The whole process went very well....your video was extremely detailed and helpful....I'm just not sure what is wrong here but I could sure use some advice. Thank you! My e-mail is katey_luckey@hotmail.com...any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Could it be something to do with the door switch or its wiring?

I found this on another web site.
" Yes, the light switch is bad if the light stays on when the switch is pushed. This will also cause the unit to not start because it thinks the door is open."
Does your switch click when you push on it?

The light/door button worked just fine before I did the repair or before it was disconnected to do the repair. If you are talking about the button that compresses when the door is closed, yes, it does click.....any suggestions?? I really, really need to get my dryer running as soon as possible...thank you!!!

Does the light go out when you depress the door switch?

I guess that is what I'm trying to find out. It worked fine before...the switch still clicks....all I did was disconnect the clip to do the repair and reconnected it afterward. Uggghhhh:(

Its a simple question. The door is open, the light is on. You push in on the door switch.
Is the light still on??

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your question...yes, the light stays on whether the door is open or closed and stays on when the button is pushed in.

OK.
That tells us the switch has no effect, but it should.
Disconnect the wires that go to the switch.
Is the light off now?
