This is a stand alone stove / range. The display suddenly went blank as if the power went out. None of the buttons on the control panel worked; no lights and nothing would heat up.

When I turn a dial for one of the burners, the display reappears, but with every light showing all number 8’s and every little word. The control panel buttons then work. I can get the clock to work normal, set the oven temperature and turn on the oven light and top light. However nothing will heat up, not the stove top or oven. If I turn the knob off, the screen goes blank as if there is no power to the control panel.

Could this be the Control Board that sits behind the control membrane causing the problem?

I'd say that you have lost one half of your voltage (240) or the neutral line is messed up. I'd start with the outlet, then the cord, then check inside the range. You'll need a voltmeter.

Thank you for your reply. I pulled out my meter ready to perform the tests. As soon as I pulled the stove away from the wall far enough to see behind it, I noticed the plug was partially disengaged from the outlet, with the neutral prong pulled out the most. As soon as I plugged it back in, everything worked perfect.

I later learned someone had pulled the stove out to clean, not realizing they pulled it out too far.

Hi,

Just wanted to say that I had the exact same problem and the exact same solution.

Cheers
