The clock dimmed recently so planned on replacing the oven control assembly. At the same time, the cooling fan started turning on (and off) intermittently, and now will not shut off at all. A clicking noise can be heard coming from the back of the unit, and occasionally, the cooling fan will stop, then start up immediately.

After replacing the oven control assembly, the following issues cropped up:
1) The 1 pad no longer works
2) The Fan pad no longer works
3) The cooling fan runs continuously
4) The unit starts beeping at rendom, occasionally shuts off, but often beeps until the Cancel button is pushed.

I then replaced the relay board. After replacing it:
1) The 1 pad still does not work
2) The fan pad still does not work
3) The cooling fan still runs continuously
It seems to have stopped the incessant beeping.

Note that the downdraft fan works, since when turing on the grill unit, the downdraft fan turns on at the low speed.

I'm running out of things to replace. Can you help?

Unplug the control panel ribbon cable from the control board and power up the range to see if the cooling fan will run. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks using a magnifier. Check the wire harness between the control and the relay boards. Post the results.

I had similar symptoms on my Jenn-air / Maytag range (model SCE30600B). I was able to fix the dim clock symptom by changing a capacitor on the clock/control module ($.08). Alternatively the entire clock control assembly can be replaced ($120) if you aren't handy with a soldering iron. The keypad related problems can be fixed by replacing the touchpad overlay panel ($140). Both parts are available at applicancepartspros.com.

Details follow.

The dim clock problem appears to be a common issue with this model Jenn-air range based on the forum searches I've done. This problem has happened twice on my range within a 4 year period. The first time I replaced the clock module (electronic oven control assembly). The second time I used a very helpful post in another forum that guided me through a board level repair. Search for "Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven" to locate the posting.

The keypad problem started after I replaced the clock module. It seems I either crimped the ribbon cable that connects the touchpad overlay panel to the clock module or damaged the cable when latching the connector.

The ribbon cable is integral to the touchpad overlay panel. It is very possible that the ribbon was crimped against the strip of sheet metal on the oven where the panel attaches. If a future repair is required, I plan to leave the touchpad panel in place and raise the glass stove top to access the clock module.

The ribbon cable attaches via a connector on the clock module. It is held in place by two small prongs on the connector that pass through holes on the ribbon cable. If the ribbon is not aligned squarely, the prongs can be forced into the ribbon causing damage to the conductive traces. One trace that is especially vulnerable is used for the #1 key on the keypad.

The ribbon cable cannot be removed from the overlay panel. If the ribbon is damaged then the entire touchpad overlay needs to be replaced ($140).

It's still cheaper to repair than replace. A new Jenn-air convection oven costs around $1600.
