Help. I pulled my range out from the wall to clean floor underneath. Part of the insulation was black and looked burnt. Is this safe? Does it need to be repaired? Should I be using it? Jbrasseal attached the following image(s):

Is that the backside of the oven light socket?
Is the wiring really burnt or is that black stuff from oven self cleaning smoke?
Is there a metal cover that goes over this?

It is very possible this could be right behind the oven light socket. I thought the insulation was burnt but I never considered that it could be black stuff from self cleaning. The wiring is not showing any signs of fire or melting. There is a metal cover that covers the entire back of the range. The photo is with the cover removed. The spot is always covered with the metal covering.
Is it common for the black stuff to come out the back during self cleaning? I hardly ever self clean the oven. Maybe once a year, if that.
Is there a way to be sure if this is a small fire damage or something else?
I'm sure you can tell that I have no experience in this sort of thing.

Just going by the one picture, it looks like the wires are not burnt or melted.
The black looking stuff seems to have "leaked" out from inside the oven. Mostly I used to see this kind of stuff around the door seals after self clean if the grease inside the oven catches fire during the self clean cycle.
As long as there is a metal cover over all this, it should be fine.
