I have a Maytag Centennial electric dryer. I always use the automatic dry setting, so when it stopped drying, I assumed none of the settings worked. (although I was wrong about that.) What I did first was to take apart the lint filter in the back of the machine and completely clean it out, along with the vent. It didn't help. Next I replaced the thermal fuse, operating thermostat, hi limit thermostat and thermal cut off. I did check them for continuity first, and they checked out okay, but I thought one of them must be the problem, and I did it anyways. It didn't help. Next I checked the heating element for continuity and checked for any broken coils - but it checked out okay. Then, by chance, I tried to dry a load on the timed dry cycle, and it works fine. The auto dry cycle still doesn't work, but the timer advances and shuts off, it just doesn't heat up. Do you think it might be a bad timer? Thanks.

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MEDC200XW1 / Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. The timer would also be at the top of my list. Unplug the unit Set it to where you usually start the auto cycle. Then check from A to C on the timer. It should be 0 ohms . If not replace the timer. |
