I have a KitchenAid KUDR01TJBT0 dishwasher that appears to no longer be heating (long wash cycles and dishes not fully dry at end of cycle). I have measured the resistance of the heater and thermal fuse to be approximately 8.8 ohms.
1) Is that resistance too low? Could I have a shorted heater? I could understand an open/broken heater but I'm not sure how the heater could be shorted.
2) Assuming the heater is OK at 8.8 ohms and that the problem is with the control board, can the the new control board be used with the older, round heater? I see that I can no longer purchase the original style heater for this model and the purchase of the new one requires a new control board to handle the extra heater wattage. Can I use the new board with the old heater, saving the time to remove the dishwasher to get to the heater?

Thanks

Make sure you have heated dry selected. (I know you probably already looked, but I had to mention it.)

The ohm reading sounds about right. I'd be checking the wiring and electronic control. You might have a trace or connector burnt up or a bad relay.

Not sure if the old element is safe t use with a new control board or if its even a good idea.

The control bd and element are $190

Control alone? $212??
