Belongs to a friend. She started the dryer ( set on high heat ), and went to bed. Dryer still on the next morning. Never did get hot. What would cause this?

A number of items can prevent the dryer from heating up.
1. Always verify power 1st. If you are able and have a multi-meter check to see if there is actually 220/240v coming in to the back of the machine.
2. Again requiring a multi-meter set to continuity, check to see if there is continuity on the heating element.
3. Check to see if there is continuity to either the high limit thermostat or the thermal cut off on the side of the heating can.
4. Check to see if there is continuity across the large pins on the cycling thermostat located on the exhaust.
Find results and report back. We will address no timer advance after we find the heating issue.
