The control display above the water dispenses is not responsive (does not light up, buttons do not function. Upper refrigerator compartment freezes most of the food. This situation occurred over a year ago - I replaced the main board and the control display board. The display board still did not work, but food in the top part was no longer freezing. So I left it at that. Now a year later, food is freezing again in the upper part. The bottom freezer appears to be working okay. Any advice is appreciated. :(

Technician traced issue to broken wire in wall of fridge and pronounced it repairable. Essentially, the main board cannot communicate with temp display / control board. Because of the Sears contract, they offered a $500 store credit to purchase a new fridge. I had replaced the main and display boards. The freezer works fine. Fridge is 11 years old. Would appreciate any thoughts. Is it really repairable?

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 3/28/2016(UTC) Posts: 200		Do you mean non repairable? If there is a wire inside the liner and broken, then no it can not be repaired. At least not by a tech. If you wanted to drill a couple holes and run a new wire externally, it would work, just be ugly.
