I have a 5 1/2 year old Maytag 5-burner cooktop in a rental unit of mine. The tenants were in the process of moving out and had a cleaning crew clean the house. When I went in last week, I heard a clicking sound. All burners were in the off position. I found out it was the Maytag cooktop. At that time, there was only 1 of the burners making the clicking sound. When I tried the other 4 burners, they would click and ignite. The burner in question would not click when I moved the know to the ignite position. I informed the tenant and they said to let it dry as the cleaning crew may have gotten the burner wet.

I went to the home yesterday and the clicking sound stopped when the burners were in the off position. Now the 2 right burners will not click and thus not ignite. The other 3 burners work fine. In searching online, it seems that the spark module could be the cause. I wanted to see if the experts on this site, think it is the spark module or something else? Is there a way to confirm if the spark module is bad? Can I change the wire connector locations on the spark module to see if the non-working burners work from a different wire connection on the spark module?

Ok, I can confirm that the wiring harness is the correct part that needed to be replaced. I ordered the harness and it arrived on Saturday. I replaced it today. Prior to installing the new harness, I moved a good working switch onto a burner that would not click. It worked and this confirmed to me that the ignition switch had failed on the burners not sparking. After I installed the new harness, all burners light up.

I figured I would complete my posting in case this might help anyone else having the same issue. It is an easy fix.
