Hi there--

We have a Whirlpool top loading washing machine that will only add hot water. I did some research and have done the following so far:

1) Checked the water supply. Plenty of hot and cold water, plenty of water pressure.
2) Replaced the water intake valve with a new one. This did not help.
3) Switched hoses, which made the machine only add cold water, and not hot water.
4) Tested the water temperature switch with a multimeter (I don't have a lot of experience with this, but it read 120 volts), so I don't think it's faulty.

What are my next steps? Hopefully there's something I can do short of calling a repairman or buying a new washer...

Thanks in advance.

In your trouble shooting steps I imagine you turn the water temp select to different positions. You should be able to do this while filling and see when selecting hot , warm & cold if the valves open and close. It sounds to me that the water temp switch while showing 120 v is not opening the cold valve. You can replace with Whirlpool WP8577786 Swtch-Temp - AppliancePartsPros.com if faulty.
