We have a GE Side by Side that has recently started acting up. I found it to be warm in the fridge and cool at the top of the freezer. The bottom of the freezer was cold. Turned out the evaporator fan had stopped spinning. I unplugged the fridge and checked the fan. It spun easily and there were no obstructions. I let the coils defrost and plugged the fridge back in and everything worked fine for another two weeks. the fan stopped spinning again the other night and everything started warming back up again. I unplugged it for a minute and plugged it back in and everything seems fine again.
I am guessing that the motherboard could be failing, either through a faulty defrost timer or otherwise.
do you have any suggestions to offer?
Thank you!
