Whirlpool Duet front load washer model WFW9250WW00 is making a loud banging noise when the wash basket is on spin cycle at high speeds. I took 2 videos so you can see exactly what it is doing. The first video link is when it is in a "slow" spin cycle. The second video link is when it is coming up to a higher speed spin cycle.

Slow Speed: https://youtu.be/g-saTZLD2mY

High Speed: https://youtu.be/YNRrUqkzXXE

As you can see, the basket moves all over the place, like it is out of balance then at higher speeds makes a banging noise and vibrates a lot.

What is causing this and what would need to be done to fix it? I am pretty mechanical so if I could maybe find the parts, I can repair it myself, unless the parts are too much money and it wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks

Take off the back and top and check the support stuts. One or more may be broken. That's a guess but an educated guess.

Any other ideas about this issue? Could it be the bearings? I have read about the bearings in the duets, seems to be a problem spot for them?

Here is another video I found of what my washer sounds like. This one looks a bit older but still the same sound/symptom.

I took off the top cover and bottom cover, it appears that all of the shocks are there, I counted 3 total. The 2 springs on the top are still there, I did not see any broken pieces laying on the bottom.

I took additional videos with the top and bottom off so you can see how much the wash basket moves around. It has become so unbalanced that at high speeds, the washer moves itself around on the floor.

These videos were taken with a small load in the washer. It is even worse when a large load is being washed, very loud banging sound. Sounds like the whole wash basket assembly is banging up against the outer side covers.

Top off higher speed spin cycle:

Top off regular speed clicking sound:

What do I need to fix this issue? Are parts still covered under any warranty for this model, or are the parts expensive?

I have EXACTLY the same issue with my Duet WFW9200SQ00. Bearings were bad (might have been caused by this issue) and were replaced today. I am searching for a way to "level" the inner drum.

One issue besides the bearings going bad, is the support arm (spider arm) being broken and causing the unbalance. This applies to both of you.....

What parts do I exactly need to repair this?

First of all let us determine which issue you have. Is it the bearings or the support arm or both. You can start the investigation by seeing if the inner basket seems loose or detached. Open the door and see if you can make the metal basket move up and down without moving the plastic outer tub. This will confirm that either the bearings or support arm are causing your issue. Next open the back panel of the machine and see if there appears to be a leak coming from the bearing just behind the large pulley. Don't forget to perform all these tests after unplugging the machine! Also to see if the bearing might be the cause see if you can move the pulley up and down causing the drive shaft to wiggle inside the bearings. There should be no play. Now for the sad part, I can not find individual part numbers for the bearings, you have to buy the entire rear outer tub. As for the support arm on this model it is no longer an individual part (sold individually) you must purchase the entire inner drum.
Even if you search the web for these parts your looking at ruffly $400 for both.
Here is the link to the parts for what its worth.
